The Cop is really the Lone Ranger played by Clayton Moore.. name doesn't show but may have changed it before using his real name. Check him out in the Movie Kansas Pacific about a train that was being built just before the outbreak of the Civil War.
Can't figure out why an actress of Joan Bennett's stature took such a mediocre role in a B movie. This is about the time she made Father of the Bride and Father's Little Dividend, We're No Angels, etc. – all great roles in top-notch A pictures.
Seeing that I was in the Marines, when the police officer called the motel to check his alibi he called him a captain but he still has his uniform on and the three strips means he's a sergeant not a captain. A captain is a commissioned officer (CO) and a sergeant is a non commissioned officer NCO). If the people who wrote this script couldn't do just a little research to figure that out I can't continue to watch it!
Richard Conte was an under rated actor. Watch thieves Highway he and lee J Cobb were terrific in that movie. Also 13 Rue Magdalane. He was in a lot of low budget movies they were all very good. He died young he was good friends with Frank Sinatra.
Not very believable how Richard Conte evaded all those law officers. I almost lost interest but decided to finish viewing it. Glad I did. Otherwise an ok movie. I have seen hundreds of movies with Richard Conte. He was very prolific in the 50s.
About 23:55 the California inspection station. I saw that in 1942. Still kicking, I love these old movies with real Actors and actresses. Boy would I love to have a time machine.
THIS WAS A WONDERFUL TRIP BACK. FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT LIKE IT SO SAD. YOU WERE NOT THERE. SAVE "YOUR" MEMORIES FOR 78 YEARS AND SEE IF THEY ARE AS GOOD. GOOD LUCK.
The house was probably built in the 1920s or 1930s when it was dry land. Rising ocean water had flooded that house and the others nearby. We had proof way back in 1954 that Global Warming was melting the polar icecaps and flooding out oceanfront real estate. Same thing has happened on the East Coast. Over the past decades, a lot of seashore has been lost on Cape Cod.
When the movie depicts the legal authorities engaging in trying to frame the innocent, accuse before evidence and facts are gathered, and pronounce "guilty" without a trial, are unjust and mean, the heat rises in me. That is hard to take. And this is how this movie begins. The police, up until the end, were not even respectful of servicemen. All this kept me latched to the movie with the hope that the facts and the truth would be revealed. Thank you, H H Morant, for a movie that got to me.
Wind in the mic in some of the outside shots. They usually have a wind screen for that. Not professional to have wind in the mic. Distracts the viewer.
what a great movie
Don Barzini!
I LIKE THIS ONE …
I remember seeing this film when I was a child. THANKS FOR DOWNLOADING!
If the star and Colombo ain't related… they are at least from the same tribe.

wow, groovy hairdo's on these bitches, ohh, and frisky tooo..
Not bad, but a bit too easy for the "bad person" at the end to get the pistol.
Stupid bitches, can't keep their dog safe. Grrrrr…
Oldies are the best stories, and actors.
Great Movie
That buxom blond that got iced, is the spit image of lovely 'Megan Kelly'. Can I get a witness ?
Boy, they did a number on that Dodge station wagon…
Excellent movie.
Thanks for uploading, that made for an enjoyable Monday night's noir ambience.
Why did the dog get it?

When your car gets stuck going uphill, push it downhill….
VERY NICE MOVIE.
When you leave the service, you will not wear your uniform, especially not wear your rank.

BEST PART OF THE MOVIE 13:40
The plot is this movie is a little silly as is the role of Susan why she would side with a stranger wanted for murder is ridiculous
