  1. There's something so off-putting about Lowell Sherman.  I'm not sure what his style was about, but it's hard to like him in films.  I like his deep voice, but not his corny expressions or mannerisms.

  2. Good film but the ending wasn't what I expected. Of course I always want to see a happy ending or a lesson learned. In the end the head crook at least felt unselfish to the kids by not involving them in a scheme he wasn't even involved in or aware of himself! It reminds me of the scary mistakes I've made by trusting someone(s) who ends up stabbing me in the back. That's what made me feel this ending was so open-ended, as if there should have been more scenes showing the moral lessons learned if the kids knew that not only was he taking the guilty plea as a sacrifice for them, but that he also wanted to teach them that crime doesn't pay (by telling them the true circumstances). I think they would have learned a much needed powerful life lesson that crime doesn't pay in addition to taking better care of their boundaries & this would have made this film feel more complete to me knowing those kids were not being thrown back out to the vultures without something gained intelligently.
