A mobster is hiding from the law in a small town and he’s running out of money, so he robs a bank and rakes in some big bucks. However, now, not only are the cops after him, but so is the local mob boss who is jealous that an outsider pulled such a job in his territory, and especially without giving him a piece of the pie.

Practice, for "Charlie Varrick".
lieutenant monahan! hahaha.
Quirky and artistic in its own way. Reminds me of student films from film school, but with better actors. Loved the real locations.
A little quirky but entertaining
This movie is from the 'Plan 9' school of film making!
Thank you that was good
Dig that frappadexxy theme tune.
TIMELESS CLASSIC..?????
Great movie!!! Loved that "bank robbing' scene, complete w/the cops on hand, right outside the front door!! (Jack called 'em & said he was w/a filmmaking co.& they were going to be rehearsing a bank robbing scene & gave them the address of the bank, & told the sgt or whomever to send a few uniformed dicks down to be "extras" (lol) – so Jack goes right in, the manager rushes in – on cue, as Jack said he would, since he called & said someone had broken into the vault, said that he'd pull up & say "what happened?" and 1 of the cops were supposed to say "in there…" then he'd run inside, then Jack pulled his gun on him, they waited for the time-locked vault to open, then went inside & he stole (just one, damn, I would've taken at least 2 or 3!) a bag of money, walked casually outside, past the cops & says something banal about talking to the director, blah blah blah…and throws the $ in the car then takes off…whoosh! -so fuckin' smooth!!!
Typical Matthau crime thriller, awesome Classic Car alert !
Carol Grace married Walter same yr movie was made.
The synsopsis reminds me of Charley Varrick
"what do you do for work?"
"oh, Im a bank robber."
"cool, I can give you a job."
what the hell.
given up modern day tv and tired of the election debate for the greats like these
George Scheffler THANK YOU
WILDKOALA10 some do. Most do it for the money today. You pay the silly ticket prices so they can live in mansion and they throw it in your face. There really is no Hollywood today just baby sitting.
Worth watching
I just had to watch it for the cars if nothing else. "58 Chevy ragtop. '57 Chevy ragtop, early '50s Hudson Hornet, '51 Ford woody wagon, '51 Ford Tudor. '57 Ford cop car. Cars were so easy to identify in those days. Matheau showed a touch of his comedic style in this film as well. Filming a movie? Where's the cameras, the cops should have asked.
TCM== THANK YOU FOR I'VE BEEN LOOKING EXACTLY FOR GOOD SCREEN AND SOUND!!!
Hard to watch. Terrible shot composition. Felt like the whole thing was dubbed. Score odd and too loud. No wonder I never heard of it.
hey its Walter Mathau
Trying to figure out where this was filmed, anyone? I know Cali. What City?
Loving old movies, they seem so entertaing for reasons I do not know.
I'll tell ya "99 River Street" from 1953 is a good one.
Quirky but entertaining. The classic cars are great to see again. Better than most of the crap on tv these days.
6:24 hey thats Walter Matthau!!
