Tarzan and the Green Goddess

Different people search for different reason for The Green Goddess, the Guatemalan idol. A friend of Tarzan, D’Arnot, has crashed in Guatemala and is now held by a jungle tribe. Two other expeditions, one lead by Major Martling and one by Ula Vale whose fiance died in an earlier one, are looking for the valuable idol, too. Raglan, Ula’s lawyer, is searching as well, but only to keep it to himself. Tarzan, Ula and Major Martling rescue D’Arnot and find the idol that is worhiped by the natives. More adventures follow through the jungle of losing and recapturing the idol.

  1. I don't know where this Tarzan movie was dug up from but they need to burie it again… this is one of the worst episodes of Tarzan I've ever seen…Cheesy!

  2. A cheesy rendition for sure, but it's 1935, so it's an early film period. It's not w/o merit however at least on two accounts. First, it's true to the original story with Tarzan not raised by apes, but an English nobleman who preferred living in the jungle. Secondly, Bruce Bennett like Johnny Weissmuller, who played Tarzan next, was an Olympic athlete. I also liked Lex Barker and Ron Ely in the series. Ron, another athlete, insisted on doing his own stunts and was hurt multiple times….

  3. Obviously, DancinFool never read the books.  The infant Lord Greystoke WAS raised by apes and later brought to England but returned frequently to Africa.
