Glenn Ford stars as an American paratrooper who travels to France after the end of World War II to try to recover a jewel-encrusted glove that had been stolen from a country church during the war. His quest leads him to a beautiful young tour guide (Geraldine Brooks), and a Nazi collaborator (George Macready) whom he had fought during the war. The movie was shot mostly on location in France and Monaco. It was based on actions that took place during Operation Dragoon.

So there was a time when American movies had in fact dialogues.
A small Tribute to all the unsung Hero's. The young in America need to see more of this kind of movie. Thank you again, I shall pass it on to y young great grandson, and more like it.

Anyone notice George Macready drives a car on the right side when telling the younger woman about the glove…and then when he drops her off, he's driving a similar car on the left side…that's a big movie goof.
Glenn Ford -one of my favorites in the movies long gone. I watch them on TV and here on Utube. Macready always played a bas–d; he had the face and voice for it.

Thoroughly enjoyed! The old movies were just made with something the new movies don't have. I would give 5 stars on Netflix for most of the oldies and usually only give 3 for the new. This would have been given a 4.
I wish there was a rating system on YouTube but regardless I'm just thankful they make these movies so available! On disability and can no longer afford cable so this was a great find!

Cool! This is a true story.
Worked for me! Bosley Crowther, critic for the New York Times, panned the film when it came out; he didn't know what he was talking about–simple as all that! Great scenes of Paris and the South of France.
I don't see a green glove.
That was a fast moving, uncomplicated script, casting was done well, Cinematography was good. Glenn Ford was quite good in this. I enjoyed this movie immensely Keep on Rolling Out those Timeless Classics Please.
