  1. I like Warner Baxter (b. 1889) but… whenever I try to imagine the studios giving romantic leads to puffy-faced (alcohol damage or chronic illness) graying ex-starlets of fifty-four, imagination always fails me. I get it: with war taking all the young men away, he looks pretty good to these desperate nurses, but – I'm not a desperate nurse. To me, he looks positively dyspeptic. Bet he keeps Rolaids in his breast pocket, and chain chews 'em. How sexy : )
    Consider this, studios: when a woman's moustache turns white, it's a plus : )

  2. Thanks for posting this. As far as costuming, however (for those who are interested)…..the nurses in 1932 (the movie's beginning scenes) would NOT have been dressed that way!

  3. Thanks for posting this enjoyable film! It's amazing how much plot they fit into a 66 minute movie– one of the great things about Old Hollywood films, they really moved, didn't waste time, and still managed to work in interesting subplots. The story is intriguing, as is the challenge facing the jury at the end. I think Columbia had one of the best "B" units at the time, with some great mystery series (20th Cent-Fox and RKO were good, too). This series, The Whistler, Ellery Queen, the Lone Wolf, Boston Blackie– all with very well done Noirish films. The rest of the Crime Doctor films are good, too. Many thanks again!

  4. It must had been pretty easy to get thru medical school, residency, and board certified in 1943. Seems no one aged at all in 10 years.

  5. HUGE fan of 'The Crime Doctor" series!!! especially the one featuring the enigmatic dancing "Bragas'. Baxter is a natural as Dr. Ordway, there is something so at ease and right in his portrayal as the amnesiac mature student-turned shrink, I just love him.

10 films in this series??? I think I may have only seen 3, and I love them all – cannot wait to see the rest. Just hope they can be found here on the blessing that is You Tube

  6. I love the premise the bad guys are operating under – that
    a. the guy who they attempted to kill is the only one who knows where this 200,000$ is????wth?? Who would do that??!!!
    b. and that if he DID know where the dough was all along in 10 years he hasn't spent it????!!!?? WHAA??

  7. plot fail: why do they toss him out of a car after hitting him on the head, if he's the only guy who knows where the 200 G's is?

  8. Does anyone know which Crime Doctor film show a contraption called "wired music" by telephone pre jukebox? … -"Bars & restaurants had devices similar to jukeboxes but you ordered your music by phone, and the service had a central office with girl operators who loaded disks onto record players. Viola your musical selection was played back over big speakers at your venue via the phone line." Thanks!

  9. Mr. Ordway was 53 or 54 years old when this movie was made and said he was 30 years old at one point;if he didn't know who he was how did he know how old he was?
He certainly looks like mid 50s to me so both he and his doctor friend should have known he was nowhere near 30.
This kind of spoiled the movie for me;just too unbelievable.
