A newly-elected district attorney is kidnapped just before he takes office by the town’s crooked political boss with the intention of replacing him with an ex-convict who is his exact double! Outstanding supporting cast with Charles McGraw, Jeff Chandler, and James Arness !

violets are blue
and was he working thanks for posting
Yup he was hard at work.
nice
thanks for the upload
Thanks, enjoyed it very much.
Roses are red vilolets are blue with a face like yours you belong in a zoo SORRY.
Look for a very young James Arness (- he's the tall blonde who plays Martha's brother- (trip to dentist) of Gunsmoke fame and Jeff Chandler.
Fish aquarium over a fireplace? …..3:35
With a plot that could have been a disaster, the cast and story line made it work. It is the plot of a Gilbert and Sullivan fiasco, or of Shakespeare. With a cute ending, to boot!
Impressed by the terrific 1940's forensic research in the movie script: "No matter how you slice her, she couldn't be any more deader"
Thankyou for posting. A good film.
I love Jeff Chandler's voice.
Xx
OMG, James Arness looks so young…and he had to tilt his head to enter and leave the room!
Great Selection, great seeing Jeff Chandler and James Arness in early roles.
the women were spectacular in thise days!!!!
Yes !!
Don Castle played his double very well. It wasn't an "edge on your seat" movie, but worth watching the crooks get caught who were working utilizing the "City Office" for their crooked deeds kept our interest and attention. Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, but that strange kiss just wasn't true. Thank you, again, PizzaFlix.
A good plot, pacing, and a good primary and supportive cast. As mentioned below, Jeff Chandler and James Arness both had supportive roles in this drama – they both did very well. Jeff Chandler was also a versatile radio actor with roles as diverse as detective Michael Shayne and Mr. Boynton in "Our Miss Brooks."
boring
Thanks for posting.
The main male character ~ Don Castle (& his double!) ~ resembles Clark Gable somewhat…. (& I love his dimples too!)
His wife's hat @ 1:06 looks like she's wearing bunny ears (side view)! I wonder how she was able to keep them up in the car….
What is the name of the song from the introduction? I like the suspense essence of it
very good movie😎
Pretty slow story — hardly worth the time.
Great flick!! Had the production values been better this could be a Hit !!
You ruined a perfectly good move! Shame on you for being so greedy!
Thanks so much for posting this movie! I really enjoyed it.
Very good movie that will hold your interest throughout. Just one slip up that should have been corrected. The cop is taking a prisoner to the dentist and they get stopped by the bad guys, cop gets cuffed to the steering wheel and the prisoner is kidnapped. It happens in broad daylight in full sun, yet when the reporters ask what happened the cop says it was at 10:30 PM.
Good movie, thank you for uploading it.
Matt Dillon was credited as James Aurness which is his real last name.
Great show.
So……I'm about a third of the way through this, I like it, but I can't figure out
if I have this right, how a street thug no matter how identical he is to the real deal is going to 'show' , 'perform' in court , or as a high ranking govt head ….?
Anyone…..????????
Very Good Movie!!!
knight good actres.
Where did they find that fake Clark Gable?
Insensitive much??!
Every one has a double, which makes life strange when one find them. I did once but he was a nice guy, it got me a few girls. Good load. Nukckels Jeff Chandler Any one knows why they have 68 posts but you only see just a few, is there a limit on the amount shown? Classic flick. The double is a little short.or one of the other. Second movie where they talk about special paper pre war stuff. Nosesy next door lady.funny. now did they wack the real guy but could have been more deeper than it was
Did you notice James Arness starting about 55 min. ? His hair looked a lot lighter, but he was younger too. But there was no mistaking his voice…Matt Dillon..!!
Mat Dillon was a good bad-boy!
Nice early film with the Distict Attorney actor quite similar looking to Robert Taylor. Thank you for posting.
