1. Isn't that the guy who kept trying to buy or steal Brown in another episode?

2. Can't believe John Dehner never had his own tv show.

3. Spike the dog that played Brown was also Old Yeller and in many other films. he was found as a stray in the pound and well loved by the trainer and his family. His wife got the idea of auditioning him for the movie, a huge hit. 4. Brian Keith, a good actor whom I have always liked in most roles, doesn't do well in comedy routines, IMHO.
   John Dehner, an actor I have never liked because of his playing bad men with fanatic natures, just doesn't come across well in a comedy routine.
   I wonder if these things had a negative effect that caused The Westerner to last for only one season???
   Yet, what cowboy program could ever match the quality of Gunsmoke?

5. I was born in 1955 and  raised on black and white TV westerns but I'd never seen this one. Brian Keith is perfect for this role.

6. This one was very Disneyesque

7. The cats should have won an Emmy for this episode

8. The brilliant Sam Peckinpah. Marvellous!. And, not to go unnoticed, Lucien Ballard. What more can one ask?

10. 10:00 Dehner's really chuckling from Keith's delivery. They make a pretty funny duo.
