  1. Tony Martin was first married to Alice Faye and in 1948 he married Cyd Charisse that lasted 60 years until her death. Tony lived to a ripe old age of 98.

  2. The only real reason to see this movie is the great Peter Lorre applying his craft in this basically mundane movie. The 1937 version is much, much better. This movie would've played much better if they had done it straight as opposed to the insipid musical interuldes.

  3. I'm not sure that a musical film noire was really what the public was clamouring for, even in 1948. Tony Martin has a nice voice and wasn't a bad dramatic actor. Combining both in one movie though . . .

  4. so the moral of the story is.. the cop will use the girl to his own personal ends.. play friends with the Local robin hood and .. robin falls for the girl.. post WW2.. women have their sort of freedom.. plus another girl plays off as more like the reason the Hood goes down.. but it was Peter L playing a Cop.. lol.. that does Hood in.. Hood did not possess the number of merry men to secure the lady from the Odessa.. but its a tight script and the bad guy er.. Hood has to go down.. and how does one . do that? .. remove them from their .. secure surroundings.. // thanks for the upload.. a Lorre Fan.. rare to C him as a cop.. lolol..

  5. It's Algiers starring Charles Boyer as Pepe and Hedy Lamarr. Where the Pepe Le Pew cartoon character was derived from. In fact they say the same lines. "My darling, let me take you to the Casbah."
