I think "The Dude" should have "spoken" to the manager of The Marberry and had him re-hire the mail room porter who got fired for pocketing Annie's letter. The gala reception attended by the Mayor and the Governor was great publicity for The Marberry, and should have counted for something.

Always love this movie. Full of charm & Bette Davis, Glenn Ford & Hope Lange were all wonderful. Very heartwarming.
Peter Falk was deserving of an Oscar for best supporting actor that year. But, the competition was fierce. In fact, all five nominees put in better performances than most winners in other years!
