Just watched "Scarlet Street" with the same main cast and director. Love these films-noir!
Dan Duryea plays a similar slimy role on the Jack Benny program.
Dan duryea was one slimy sod.
this movie reminds me of the movie 'Scarlet Street' similar plot same actors and director Fritz Lang
Now Watch Starlet Street
Professor is a complete idiot. WHY would he go through a gated toll road so his face could be recognized? Why no did he have to dump the body over a barbed wire fence? He also dropped something at the side of the road.
Excellent movie. Thumbs up.
1:12:30 – camera👍
Anyone besides me catch Robert Blake as a child at the opening scenes ✌️
I love her pumps 👠😉🇺🇸
This was crazy!!! I would have just called the cops…and stated self_defense…plus there’s a witness
Another movie made around the same time with the same leading Stars i.e (Edward G Robinson.-Joan Bennett- Dan Duryea) on YouTube called “Scarlet Street”
Well the stupid ending, justified the stupid decisions that the characters made.
This is before my time but clearly they were far much better actors and much better movies like the lady said "the strength of story and acting talent".
Edward G. A pleasure to watch
THE WRITER'S OF THESE OLD MOVIES WERE VERY GIFTED.
There is so much uncritical nostalgia in the comments. I love film noir and classic Hollywood and foreign films, but I also love what's happened with television the last 15 years or so. There was a time bragging about not having or watching television was supposedly an indicator of sophistication and intellect, but now it's just a marker of how out of touch you are, and don't even know it. Mad Men, The Wire, The Leftovers, Halt and Catch Fire, Atlanta, are all works of art and are as good as any of the classics we love and fete, while doing something in a longer form than film cannot accomplish by its very nature.
The wonderful thing about living in this period is we can have it all. Yes, there is a lot of drek out there but that was true in the classic Hollywood period, too, and to posit otherwise is being untruthful. Likewise, so many wonderful movies are being made I can't keep up! Both in Hollywood and abroad. So don't be a luddite, embrace the new. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find, if you care to look closely.
can't wait for the remake 2020! although the "murder" is obviously self defense, the remake will prob have a massive twist only visible to those that have seen the old version. they remade the story through a different lens I'm guessing.

This was such a delightful movie!! I enjoyed it so much! thanks for uploading it
46:00 Spanky finds the body
Love Edward G…………..
A great ending! Two twists within the last 5 minutes! A trite expression I know, but they just don't make them like they used to….
Why do 1940 films keep recycling the same actors????
I saw this movie a few months ago. Wow.
Such a great movie. I´m film student, i been taking more guidelines with classic cinema than the actual stuff on Netflix or TV, i mean there are good things too but there´s not a such thing of symbolism, inmersion and depth sings in actual movies or series. Migth i`m wrong anyway i feel more comfortable with old movies.
You'll love this movie! What a treat!
Great movie with a great twist!!!! The cast was perfect and the acting was top notch…They don't make 'em like that anymore!!
Most excellent film!!!!! 👏👏👏
The same stars-Director-year and plot as "Scarlett Street"?
This will be the third time I’ve watched this. It’s that good.
I like Raymond Massey played one hell of an Abe Lincoln
Brilliant movie..
And I even saw Spanky as a Boy Scout
I was having an anxiety attack the whole time he brought the body to the spot. I don't know if I can stand the whole movie lol
watching this gem in lockdown 2020
Older movies have better in depth dialogue because they were produced in a time when people had larger attention spans.
Most people today have the attention spans and comprehension levels of very small children, thanks to technology the minds of most people have regressed.
Con Dan Duryea y la morocha Joan…hmmm 😲😉esto seguro se va a poner bravo.👌🌹🍃🌹🍃🌹
Great ending!! Fun movie!
Wow im surprised. I would have never guessed that rackshots were introduced this early. Clearly visible in full form in that blackdress.
