Tales of Frankenstein 1958 – Directed by Curt Siodmak with Anton Diffring

Ghastly atmosphere, very nice decorations and buildings and one of the better directing works by Curd Siodmak. A fine little film, better than many a movie that was produced later.
I can really recommend it.

  1. Wonderful! Love all the laboratory effects. I believe they had to get special permission to use the Boris Karloff type of head features as Universal had copy-right, that's why Christopher Lee's version was so different.

  2. Brother of Robert Siodmak who peaked as a director in the late 1940's with film noir A picture classics such as The Killers, The Dark Mirror and Criss Cross.

  3. The plot was not bad. Anton Diffring a great actor. Sadly the monster's face is a kind of rigid mask. Not the genial make up Jack Pierce made for Boris Karloff for the 1931 "Frankenstein" movie. That one could show emotions. And the emotions of the ill man were necessary to show off here.

  4. I remember seeing this growing up in LA and this showed up on channel 4 on francis features , host tom Francis showed afternoon movies. As a kid, I like many would watch any movie with a monster in it. Fun times.

  5. Proper old monster movie with sparking electrodes, castles and thunderstorms. 😊 Thanks for posting, great movie short.πŸ‘
