  1. Another notification from you guys and I get excited! And this month you bring us one of my favorite Vincent Price movies of all time! While it keeps with most of the plot from the original short story by Edgar Allan Poe, Corman's "Masque of the Red Death" takes a lot of poetic license with the source material. Namely, Prince Prospero being a devout satanist and trying to lure the fair maiden to his point of view. Corman's grasp of gothic horror is evident here with the creepy castle that is the main location of the film, especially with the colorful rooms. And let's take a moment to talk about Price. Vincent Price is a master of the horror genre and here he adds his own elegant style to the lead role of Propero. Every line that Price utters is classic Price. Not to mention that the reveal at the end of this movie of what is under the mask the red death is wearing has become synonomous with this movie. You can't think of this movie and not see that reveal. It's like the reveal of Lon Chaney as the Phantom, it's jkust iconic. Gentlemen, let me congratulate you on another great choice and as always best of wishes to The Management.

  2. This film is superb. You are right about the set, it is just amazing, as are the costumes. Vincent Price plays that evil character Prince Prospero so excellently. So evil – reminds me of my ex. 😂😂😂

  3. Thank you. I knew that was a child with a dubbed voice but it was creepy so I wasn’t sure about it. Great movie. And I love Poe’s original. I think the sets did a great job of capturing the description of the castle interior.

  5. So there is an awesome song by Gothic Metal band Theatre of Tragedy called "And When He Falleth" that uses dialogue from this movie in a really fascinating and chilling way. I had been meaning to check out the film itself for a while now, and what better time than Halloween night to do so! A superb film all things considered…and only five weeks' schedule to film it! Wow! This is my first Corman film, but it will be the first of many…Thank you both for keeping movies like this alive and available to the newer generations!

  6. Each one of the others deaths (in different colors), represent Middle Ages' diseases:

    – Black Death – Bubonic Plague,

    – Golden Death – Leprosy

    – Violet Death – Porphyria,

    – Blue Death – Cholera,
    – Yellow Death – Yellow Fever, and…

    – White Death – Tuberculosis. I thought the "Red Death" would be Necrotizing Fasciitis (judging by the description), since Tuberculosis is "The White Death." Of course, I had talked to my Mom (who was a nurse), and she thought it might be Ebola. And I said "I thought it was an African disease."

  7. For decades I thought the great Vincent Price was British. His eloquence, his impeccable timing, his poise, his grace, his majestic voice. He was the most UnAmerican American actor around. Thank you for honoring us with your presence Sir. Your legacy is Eternal.

  8. That dream sequence in the movie is so similar to Alice Cooper's video Welcome to my Nightmare, which coincidentally also has Vincent Price in it. I'm sure Alice saw this movie more than once.
