That was bloody epic, old boy! These 19th century limeys were mad..Mad! I'm going to go watch "Beau Geste" now…
This movie and the remake with Laurence Harvey are the best!
In conclusion, I would never return to a similar hen.

"The first movie I ever saw in America was the greatest movie I ever saw. I think I went with my foster mother. Four Feathers with Ralph Richardson. An amazing film."
— p41 Bill Graham Presents (his autobio)
June Duprez was simply stunning.
Does anyone know the name of the march that starts playing at 29:41? The first one is Scipio by Handel.
Genesis 1:29, John 4:14, and Proverbs 5:15 could have restored his sight and brought peace on Earth and healed the environment.
Where is Udham Singh?
My mother took me to see this in a revival movie house when I was five years old. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it since. I know some of the dialogue by heart. You could infer from this that I really like it.
Indian revolutionary Shaheed udham singh acted in this movie to earn some extra money to support the Ghadar Party, an organisation comprising of a group of Indians coming together to end the British rule in India.
I get why people would wanna say this is the best version. And although it is good it’s still nothing compared to the 2002 version.
I have watched all 4 versions of this classic tale numerous times, including the silent one.irrespective of which one you watch,it's still a great watch.just saying

Ši traka filma ir tik forša, tik neticama. Es tikko pabeidzu
One of mine and my late Father's favorite movies. Funny is that my Father's Father arrived in London from Italy in 1885 when Gordon was defeated and killed. He was just 4 years old and needed a special operation. Some of the Family had immigrated to England years earlier. He ended growing up in London and came to America in 1899 when he was 18 years old.
It has Shaheed Udham Singh ( Mohammad Singh Azad)
And they called him a coward
Please see the 3 and a half fethers episode of dad's army
Best of all the Four feather movies ever made
OK, I'm confused? Did she divorce the first man and marry the second?
now it's a war crime to send your men to sure destruction, maybe it was then too but no one cared, as they said "men were men back then'
So this movie was about the end of the Dark Ages I seen the one in 2002 nt this 1. This will go good with (our hidden history chapter 19-26)
a movie about honor, bravery, freindship, romance, with a cast of 1000s. They dont make them like this anymore and one person is still alive at 96!
They simply do NOT make movies of this caliber anymore.
Watched it earlier on Talking Pictures TV.A good watch despite the usual protestations from The Wokeratti here and elsewhere.
One of my top favorite films 😊
If you can see at around 16:37, the gentleman dancing the waltz fell! A little easter egg I suspect.
Ted Kennedy in his book said this was among the finest war movies he'd ever seen. He watched it as a child when the senior Kennedy gathered all the children to watch weekend movies at home!
Near the end of "And The Hippos Were Boiled In Their Tanks" the narrator mentions that he and another character went into a theatre to see a movie called "Four Feathers" by Alexander Korda. Considering the source of this information, I assumed that it was an art film, so I decided to look for it on YouTube. Having found it, I was surprised to discover that it was in color, considering when it was made. I initially strained a bit to see if the movie had merely been colorized, but concluded that it had, indeed, been filmed in color. Either that, or they did one helluva job in the lab. Anyway, "The Wizard of Oz", same year, was color, wasn't it? Ah, now I see that I missed the beginning credits, which clearly state that this movie was filmed in color. The hazards of eating and viewing…
With considerable expectations I began to watch the movie. It started off impressively enough. An aristocratic father with a militaristic family background suspected that his son was a coward, and was suitably concerned. After all, the little ponce was reading Shelley ("…of all people"), and god knows what else. To make matters worse, he seems to be repelled by war stories of blood and gore around the dinner table. What a wimp. For my part, I was laughing at some of the overacting in this regard; possibly a carry-over from the theatre where projection required a certain intensity, and still does. But this was film, so maybe it was a satire? I was intrigued, and gazed on. Ten years later, the boy is old enough to join the Royal North Surrey Regiment and wear a splendid red jacket, bound for the Sudan, where there had been a spot of trouble. But at a crucial moment, he hands in his resignation. His overbearing father has died and so he no longer feels any obligation to his commission. I guess the aristocracy could do that. OK, I'm out. No problem. So, I thought, the movie is about a conscientious objector. Should be interesting, considering the time. Wrong.
It turns out he was only a garden variety coward after all, and the movie makes a southward turn from which it never recovers, as he spends the rest of it proving otherwise. The problem with his dis-insertion is that his high society wife, who made it clear early on that she prefers the sublime and intangible, to the transitory and the here-and-now, makes it plain that she is not on board with staying hitched to a coward, and the subsequent loss of status that entails. So now he must go on a death-defying, not to mention preposterous and unbelievable, solo mission to try and redeem himself in her eyes. In short order the movie turns out to be just another piece of unabashed racist propaganda, you know—like "Gunga Din", so typical of its day, lending itself to the usual glorification of imperial aspirations and, as an added bonus, a great recruitment tool. I decided to go ahead and sit through it, give it the benefit of the doubt, or at least derive some entertainment value from it as a farce.
As I said, quite typical of its period, the message was simple enough and still resonates to this day. Lily white northwestern Europeans, having outstayed whatever welcome they may have once had and, likewise, having imposed themselves on their more tanned counterparts in the sunnier climes, must re-establish order. It seems that those devilish darkies, in this case the Dervishes and the "Fuzzy Wuzzies" (I kid you not, that term was used in the movie, at about 49:13, and verbally in at least one other place 1:52:17—I thought Kerouac had made it up), had been acting up again, and very much needed to be taught a stern lesson. Apparently, they didn't appreciate the incredible gift of Western civilization that had been benevolently bestowed upon them by their benefactor, Great Britain. So it was crucial that correction be administered to the ingrates. Great pains were taken, to a laughable degree, to show just how deserving of it these vile and evil miscreants were (and still are), especially the Dervishes who, of course, were leading the mischief. Beginning at about 1:32:15 the Khalifa's malevolent leer and facial contortions are particularly exaggerated, and quite hilarious. Just in case you might sill harbor any lingering doubts about the importance, never mind the cost, of straightening these people out. Slaughtering them with modern weapons was just simply the only logical thing to do. Sound familiar?
No need to go into tedious details; suffice it to say that the rest of the movie was predictable enough. The Lily Whites proved themselves once again to be braver, stronger, more upright, intelligent, resourceful, high-minded, jocular, charitable, clever, moral, cleaner and, well, whiter than their benighted adversaries, who finally got their comeuppance. The day was saved, and everyone returned safe and sound to their respective palatial mansions in Merry Olde England to live happily ever after. Oh yeah, except for that one bloke what got blinded by the sun and jilted by the love of his life. The End.
P.S. I hope I didn't ruin it for anybody. Forgot to say "spoiler alert"…
