Ray Healy captures two of three robbers just after the Sheriff is shot, but Max, the third bandit, escapes. Max then performs a second robbery and murder before switching horses with Ray. Ray devises a scheme to lure Max into a trap after persuading the Sheriff that he is innocent. The deceased’s insurance policy would be paid in cash during his funeral, according to the advertisement.
