Synopsis:
Once there lived an old widower and his daughter. In due time, the man remarried to an older woman who had a daughter herself from a previous marriage. The woman doted on her own daughter, praising her at every opportunity, but she despised her stepdaughter. She found fault with everything the girl did and made her work long and hard all day long. One day the old woman made up her mind to get rid of the stepdaughter once and for all.

  1. That part where he gives that beggar a coin and the beggar runs away always kind of weirds me out. Also was that really the lady's walking stick or did Ivan just think it was?

  2. Nastya is so sweet. She even cared about Ivan after what happened when they first me and she cared about that Bird that got frozen. Does anyone know if the Bird ever got free?

  3. Does he speak Chinese? The movie Alexander Parkhomenko was dubbed in Chinese in the 50's and he was listed as the voice actor for the role he played in Russian. Just curious if that's not a mistake.

  7. I saw this on Mystery Science Theatre 3000, and laughed at the riffs. But I actually looked past that and saw what a good movie this is. I heard even Steven Spielberg liked this film, and have to agree. Thanks for posting!
