The town of North Fork becomes a haven for outlaws when suave Ben Judson smooth-talks his way into the marshal’s job.
The action-packed series about a dedicated rancher trying to raise his son in a turbulent, untamed West. Their adventures are filled with rousing, two-fisted action set against sweeping beautiful and authentic locations. A classic hit-series, “The Rifleman” is rich with high production standards, moral values and a superb list of guest stars.

"When it comes to antagonizing somebody I take top honors!"—"The Rifleman" 4/16/62
excellent episode
I call bs..Mark knew the Marshall before Mica came..Mark even cried when he got killed????
Sheriff Roscoe Pico Train!!!! GUESS STARRING ON THE RIFLEMAN!!!!! CLASSIC!!!!!
I've only seen this episode a half million times and never noticed @ 22:47 – 22:52 one of the stage crew's silhouette over by the door and light. He apparently either had a cigarette or toothpick possibly which he brought up to his mouth, then dropped his hand down, or maybe he just yawned and brought his hand up to his mouth and back down…LOL I love the entire "The Rifleman" series especially in finding little bloopers as such. Wonderful cast and supporting actors.
ROSSSSCOOOOE P. COLETRAIN.
I love this episode, because literally nobody believes in Micah's shooting ability, even though it's stated that he used to be pretty fast, and we regularly see him hitting shots with a pistol.
Don't underestimate a dedicated Marshall.
Loved this episode. One of those Im going to remember whenever I think of rifleman.
Love them days ❤ ????????????????????????????
Awesome show I'm trying to watch them back-to-back
So this must be how Roscoe P. Coltrane and Boss Hogg got started way back in the day. ????
That's Rosco P Coltrain. Duke's of Hazzard
Rosco p c train was never a good sheriff. Lol..
Love the way Lucas just flat ignored sheriff
The actor playing the crooked Sheriff did a wonderful job as General Sheridan in this episode of The Rifleman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VjzUxRestU&ab_channel=FilmRiseTelevision
Who knew a television show from the early 60s would predict life in 2023!
Gee, mark is about 17 years old here and has a voice of a 6th grader
America must have been at the stock show when 'we' elected you know who.
Micah is an alcoholic and to stupid to be a marshall.
Mark becomes the marshal but is fired after he gets caught growing loco weed. he argues that it is for medicinal purposes but is sent to the woodshed anyway ????
Ben Judson, aka Lawrence Dobkin, wrote the scripts for 2 episodes of the Rifleman, The Executioner & The Actress.
I got to meet James Best in Sperryville, VA a long time ago, he said he enjoyed Westerns like this episode, and the KIller Shrews film he was in. But loved the comedy side acting more. ???????? & 5⭐
just like today
What a great episode one of my favorites
Micah really looked like he was on a bender.
So much for gun control,,, could that be the real reason why government wants peoples guns??? NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Didn't your brother die about a year ago?
"No, that was me."
Bob's daughter later married Dennis Coltrane. They moved to Hazard County GA where they had a son named Oscar. One of his sons was named Rosco.
The new marshal reminds me of all the tyrants today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what a great episode! Lucas is completely badass to just walk by Judson and get his rifle. You just know that neither of the bad guys has the guts to stop him. And the ending was a really good message for today too!
Great message in the plot.
James best can really play a bad guy, this is my fave role of his in this show.
This is premium acting at its finest. Such intense intrigue and excitement. One year since "Mark" was called home.
Miss you alot Johnny.????????❤
