Adam and Rebecca are immediately attracted to one another, and Adam contrives to meet with Rebecca again on the peddler’s return visit. After they leave, he talks with Ben about arranging a party at the Ponderosa to help Rebecca meet others in the area. Ben agrees, and Adam rides off to carry the invitation to Rebecca in person. Meanwhile, Aaron and his daughter have stopped on the trail for the night in order to prepare for the Sabbath. Adam is impressed when he learns that Aaron is a devout practitioner of his Jewish faith. Unfortunately, two outlaws have been stalking the peddler. He and his daughter are in grave danger unless Adam can help them. Written by Charles Delacroix on IMDb.com
Reviews:
“The Cartwrights deal with an itinerant peddler Ludwig Donath and his daughter Aneta Corseaut traveling through the west. It’s something that the Cartwrights and the other folks in the Virginia City area have never dealt with before.
Donath is a kind man, but a strict Sabbath observing Jew and keeps Corseaut on a strong leash. He has a right to be concerned as a couple of prairie toughs have the two picked out for a robbery. He has to be rich, you know those people.
Pernell Roberts has something of an interest, but given her strong faith and her father’s you know it’s not in the cards.
A nice performance by Ludwig Donath best remembered as Al Jolson’s father in The Jolson Story and Jolson Sings Again.” Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

The Jewish religion is beautiful. I didn't know they did all of those things.
Massive fan of the show, That woman, is the most beautifulest woman I've ever seen,, for the first time I've noticed they let it be that one of the Cartwright boys does continue to see the girl they wanted to see, as apposed to her dying or something, Love it ????????
Goodness gracious – Pernell was so, SO handsome. ❤???? Adam and Rebecca had great chemistry, I would’ve liked to see a part two of this episode! They would’ve been a very cute match. Really wish the writers would’ve allowed these characters to grow, marry and mature as time moved on. Anyway, I really enjoyed this one – despite the abrupt ending! ????
Im only 38 i didnt grow up watching these, I actually just started watching bonanza a few years back and realized everything i was watching was garbage compared to bonanza. I honestly just wish humanity would just put technology down and come back together and live in the real world again, but unfortunately I know its never going to happen we are way past the point of no return.
"All the more reasons that the old ways not be changed"????????????
Pernell was one hunk of a man ❤
Andy wont be pleased ms crump talking with adam cartwright. Lol
Why wouldn’t Adam just spend the 10 bucks and give it to his dad?
This episode is really good episode from Bonanza. Adam Cartwright falls in love with a young woman.
I felt sorry for Adam when Aaron suggested he leave. He came all that way. He didn't even bring a bedroll.
BRAVO!!!!!!!
Green coat go home.
The verse in Numbers 6: 23-24 is possibly the oldest known prayer in the Bible. It was found written on an ancient rolled silver scroll that had to be scanned with modern tech because it could not be unrolled without destroying it . The scroll is older than the Dead Sea scrolls. It is Thousands of years old. And here it is, recited on a tv western from the 1960s and I am watching it in 2023.
Hearing it now in these trying times brings some peace to me. It has once again touched my heart and soul.
Thank you.
Great episode! Most people don't realise what a significant contribution Jewish immigrants made in the colonisation of the west, especially California.
Guest Star Aneta Corsaut (1933-1995), as Rebecca Kaufman in this 1063 Bonanza Episode, also made her first appearance, as Helen Crump (Sheriff Taylor's girlfriend), in the Andy Griffith Show, that very same year.
❤❤❤❤????????????????little Joe & hoss
OH MY GOSH !!! After such a terrible day I really needed that . I am packing to move alone and with health issues and to another city. I am a Messianic christian and enjoy doing Sat, Sabbath as best i can as a gentile . Jesus did it , did perfect Torah ! GBU all from Canada
I enjoyed watching this episode.
Thank you so much for posting it ❤️
Both Michael Landon and Lorne Greene are Jewish
❤❤❤❤
Brothers, I forgot to like the story of the short man, he was great with Haas❤❤❤❤❤
Hay otras cosas no muy bonitas hacen los judíos los sabat. Entendido?
Even Helen Crump made it out to the Ponderosa!
E uma excelente serie
Love Aneta Corsaut. Stole my heart as Helen Crump.
this is before Rebecca married Andy.
21:04 Who are these thieves and what are they waiting for?! 😀 Since they first saw the wagon leaving the Ponderosa, I figured that they would attack when they passed the same spot on the way back (and steal the gun, which a Cartwright later see them using), but the didn't, and then the third time, they wait again. Sure, wait for them to stop, but why wait until the setup camp? .. Sorry, um, Adam is following the wheel marks (must be a little used road) but then silently approaches the camp through a narrow path. Strange. Then, while camped alone, she disappears without telling her father? If he realizes that she's missing….
The choreography is sometimes weird. Having one man lure Adam into a trap is normal but why are they shown standing together?! One should be in front and one behind. Then the use their real name during the robbery. 36:20 Now, why are they showing themselves to Adam? They want to get caught or what?! 36:32 Huh?! OK, that surprised me. Why do they think that a peddler carries a lot of money on a weekly circuit? Of course, I would expect anyone to hide money in more than one location but they could have expected that from the start.
Those Merwin and Hulbert guns go from $2000 to $7000 now a days.
WOW that is Helen Crump ????
???????????? Another great episode. Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this old series.
Best regards luck and health.
That didn't end like I thought it would. Anytime a girls catches a Cartwright's eye, I assume she's a goner by the end of the show.
This shows that even the weakest person can only be pushed so far and will explode and rage and anger and violence also sometimes weak people who have been pushed around all their life have that pent up anger in them that can explode at any time I'm a nice guy but don't push me too far I remember one guy they interviewed in prison he said the person you have to worry about the next dominant the person you have to worry about the most is guy that's being picked on and messed with all the time because they have the element of surprise they have nothing to lose great episode
As ever bandits spoiling the day
The funny thing is in real life, Lorne Green and Michael Landon are both Jewish!
Wow, I love Adam, what a stud. This is an awesome episode….
@1:00 Adam reclaims his song, the one 'The Actress' sang in episode 122.
That's Helen
So awesome when Aneta recites the Aaronic Blessing !! (Book of Numbers Chapter 6 Verses 22 – 26) !! TV programs were so much better back in those days !! Maranatha everyone !!!
Hablo en castellano
I love how Michael Landon mounts his horse without using stirrups @7:55. Shows off his horsemanship & athleticism!
So sweet the producers thought about introducing people to the Jewish faith.
Imagine Hollyweird today doing that?
Sad.
Ce aveți cu sufletul meu și cu viața mea ?
OF , OF
Aron nu deranjează pe nimeni….????????????????
Adam with an ivory colored shirt and not wearing a hat is a rare sight. Rebecca is played by Aneta Corsaut who played Andy Taylor's girlfriend Helen Crump on "The Andy Griffith Show."
