Reviews:
“If you are not particularly a Western movie fan, but are a film buff who feels an obligation to visit all genres, there are some Directors that epitomize and rise above the pack. It is with these Artisans you can savior that which is the best of an admitted overload of mediocrity and banality.
The Westerns of Directors…Budd Boetticher, Anthony Mann, Sam Peckinpah, Sergio Leone, and if you want to get into the more mainstream, John Ford.
Here we have one of seven films that Boetticher did with Randolph Scott and with the always excellent writer Burt Kennedy’s curt, colorful dialog. Speaking of colorful. This one was filmed in Cinemascope and the stylistic inclusion of landscape as character is on display here in all it’s encompassing beauty. There is nary a close-up in this film and there is no need. It is so well framed the characters are developed by their words, position, and posture.
As always the Director delivers style as well as substance and populates the movie with interesting multi dimensional characters and the cast is outstanding. This is primal as well as evolutionary and humorous as well as deadly serious. A rich and elegant film that is a parade of people through a place within a time when there was an individual and not a collective code of honor.” Written by LeonLouisRicci on IMDb.com.
“Indeed one of the most finest western movies of all times, a nice story line makes it easy to follow up the events, the cast makes the movie even more interesting to watch, though best viewed as cinema scope it is a nice addition to any western movies enthusiasts library, the movie includes a proper ending style in which its left for the viewer to conclude what the flow of events will be when its over.
the open spaces gives the movie a wide horizon typical of the old west, Burt Kennedy story drops perfectly on the background creating a charismatic effect for the main characters (Randolph Scott) Ben Brigade and (Lee Van Cleef)Frank, though the appearance of Lee Van Cleef comes at a later stage in the movie resulting in more focus on the other members of the cast.” Written by Acef22 on IMDb.com.

Randolph Scott best actor of his time
This was filmed in the Sierra Nevada mountains
Poor storyline
Thanks for the post. I don`t think anyone perfected the loner hero as well as Scott, in westerns anyway. Easily one of his finest films. Helped launch other careers too. James Best nearly steals the show.
Thanks for sharing!
That final shot of the tree on fire as the lone cowboy stands and the music comes alive! Love it

I love Randolph Scott movies all have been wonderful.
But his best is when he went all Westerns. Just the right move for him.
Sure wish Seven Men From Now could be a part of this channel I have watched it in another place but love to see it pop up here.
Randolph Scott not another like him
Thanks for this showing ????
What a surprisingly awesome movie…just how i like em too- great acting, wholesome, proper values, happy ending…i was hopin he was gonna ride out to the sunset with the girl but that would just be overdoing it..
All the stars are in this, surprisingly Pernell Roberts…aka Adam Cartwright.
sos
Damn! Randolph Scott is tougher than John Wayne.. great acting throughout the cast.
To bad Pernell Roberts is just, too good, for any western. He's a fully trained Shakespearean actor. Don't ya know!!?? He hated being in Bonanza, it was beneath him. Although great work here. But…. He sucked on Trapper John as well. He's not that great of an actor, to be a, big ass pompous ass that he was. Great movie tho!! No matter who puts it out. They do not get any credit for just posting great actors of old. They just have good taste in movies. I'm done bitchin'!!
10/10 no adverts would be better too.
If you watch the trilogy, I always watch "The Tall T" last when and where he gets the woman (after only three days) and the treasure (father-in-law). It's the poet in me.
One of the very best – a true classic Wertern, with a nice twist in the end!
Oh what a plot twist!!! And a burning tree! At the end….had me totally gripped till the end credits
Still amazing after all these years. Modern films like the MCU and Disney franchises ,need well written strong storylines. Not CGI and infantile scripts.
I done him a hurt so long ago I most forgot
A good western. Thank you for sharing it.
Howdy
Excelente western. One the bests
what
It Seems to me That Pernell Roberts Is better In The big screen movies rather than T.V. roles such as In Bonanza Just my Opinion?
Thank you.
Wow – super movie! Great actors and unexpected ending too!
Nice ❤❤
Not going to watch because I do not think it could be a complete movie at 109 minutes.
In September, 1959, 7 months after Pernell Roberts was Sam Boone in "Ride Lonesome" (February, 1959), he would be cast as the oldest brother, Adam Cartwright (1959-1965), in the Bonanza TV Show (1959-1973).
What ever happened to Randolph Scott, riding the trails alone? What ever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the industry!
Scott's best! One of my favs!
running deadlands soon. here because the book recommends this film.
James Best was a cousin of the Everly Brothers; easy to see the resemblance. An excellent actor he became an artist and retired to Hickory, NC where he died in 2015. Another NC connection was Randolph Scott who grew up in Charlotte, NC and is buried there. This is probably my favorite Randolph Scott movie but I like all of his westerns.
Hang tree looks scary.
Funny–Look at her eyes not the breasts and we don't have to kill the horse either.
Randolph Scott is a good horse rider. Look how he fell from the horse and stood up.
Text is easier for me to understand. Thanks.
Very nice when the stagecoach comes suddenly in a hurry and hit the fence and some pole falls down. I stood up. It's such a great scene.
Also James Coburn and Pernell Roberts that I saw him in a TV series. Must be a good movie.
Beginning is very good that keep me watching. Waiting for Lee van cliff.
this and hondo 2 of the greatest western with two of the greatest to do it Wayne n scott but they got a lot of similarities
I never thought I'd see the day ….James Coburn play a half wit . Did a good job .
Adam Cartwright is brilliant ????
It's sad that us western lovers have to keep watching movies that are sixty years old and have seen two or three times
because they don't make them anymore and the low budget attempts are not worth watching. They say that it is not
worth the investment because nobody wants to watch them but when they do make a decent new one like the
remake of true grit it won another academy award as did the first one so go figure.
5 star
I've always found Pernell Roberts to be a stiff actor. I always feel like I'm watching a performance, that he never behaves or moves like a person in that character would, and his speech is even machine-like.
And regarding Bonanza, Michael Landon just out & out overacted. All the time.
Ain't it amazing how California looks nothing like Texas
