  1. Watched this tonight 5th August 2024, great movie, I have been told by a few military this cat and mouse was spot on in WW2, well worth watching.

  2. Funny backstory: "The Enemy Below" won the Oscar for Special Effects. At the Oscars, the presenter was June Allyson, the wife of director Dick Powell. When she announced the results of the voting, she said, "The winner is 'The ENEMA Below.''

  3. It looks like they paid a lot of attention to displaying vibrant, rich colour. That kind of makes sense to me, since most movies of the time were in black-and-white.

I've always had a fear of dying, especially by drowning.

  5. Quite good for a 1950s war movie. And yes, Das Boot is unbeatable. However, somewhere they claim that The Enemy Below was new trend setter in naval war films.

The help of the US Navy can be seen in the frame. However, the German WW2 u-boat was not as spacious and "luxurious" as in the movie, if you compare it to Das Boot.
