  1. Great movie. Poor Moe, Thelma Ritters was really an awesome actress. And Jean Peters was super attractive with her sexy looks and accent. Good times when even a pickpocket in New York wore a fedora.

  2. What a good movie, watched it may be 30 years ago. The actress who played Mo is a fantastic actress, I think she was in that classic movie ' How the West was won'. Always played the part of the wise older woman. Enjoy, they just can't make movies like this anymore.

  3. If that film was so terribly important, a matter of national security, why didn't the G men just put the squeeze on Richard Widmark?
In the police precinct, they could've simply beat it out of him. Remember, it was a matter of national security. No holds barred.
33:57 " Locking you up isn't gonna help. " ( But maybe beating you up would. )

  4. Excellent film. Absolutely love Richard Widmark and Thelma Ritter. The only scene I would have liked to see was Jean and Richard visiting Mo's grave site at the end.💗💗💗💗💗

  5. Sam's films were always like a sock in the mouth. Not even the dames escaped a beating. Great mobile camera work and fantastic performances all round.

  6. Superb movie! An excellent cast all at the top of their game. The cinematography was gorgeous, a tight story pitched within the dreadful McCarthy years. Richard Widmark is always riveting but Thelma Ritter was also fabulous.

  7. Checked the channel for more D.B., and what do I find but one of my favorite movies of all time? Thanks.

Moe plays a 78 recorded by Maurice Chevalier, supposedly a collaborator with Nazis in occupied France.
