In 1927 Chicago, the body of a theatrical agent is found in the apartment of his client, would-be dancer Roxie Hart (Ginger Rogers), who lives with her husband, Amos. Convinced by two reporters that juries never convict pretty women and that she can garner fame by confessing, Roxie, who knows Amos is guilty, agrees. Amos hires snappy lawyer Billy Flynn (Adolphe Menjou) to stir publicity, and Roxie is a sensation. But when public interest flags, Roxie fears she might be convicted after all.

#Guilty . . . of being a FAB film!
The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing is about the murder of architect Stanford White by Harry K. Thaw over "actress" Evelyn Nesbit.
and Dr. Watson too here
Ty for posting
Great to see the source material kander and ebb adapted. This movie is probably more relevant today than when it was made. Favorite gags– the judge getting in the pictures, the black bottom bit, but most of all the out of frame voice saying "Boy!" every time she changed costumes.
Loved it
There is an earlier silent film version of Chicago. 1927 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js5lYNIZ87E

Ahhh so that’s what Fred did before he bought an apartment building in NY lol
I'll never forget that judge getting in the picture 🙂
i thought that was lucille ball
Wow I really enjoyed this film and Ginger Rogers was amazing! a bit different from the 2002 Chicago version but both are great, thank you for the upload 🙏😀
Ginger at her brilliant comical best and WOW, what a tremendous pair of legs!
The play Chicago (as well as the musical) was based upon the case of Beulah Annan. She and her lover Harry Kalstedt got into a heated argument and they both reached for the gun (no really they did, I wasn't trying to sing). Of course Beulah grabbed the gun first and shot her lover dead. After a few hours she called her husband and you know the rest.
It's so racist in here.
Great movie.
The trial of Roxie Hart for the murder of Fred Kingsley is a pure comedy. Also, the judge makes me laugh a lot because he always involves himself in pictures. Sad however for Roxie Hart's husband.
Ginger’s great in this comedy. I’m surprised by how funny Adolphe Menjou was too.
I suppose it filmdom, this was consider a good movie. But where I sit, cheese is cheese and it stinks. I can't believe Ginger Rogers stooped to make this movie.
I was surprised to recognize the basic elements of the later film, "Chicago" in this film. Ginger Rogers is/exceptional. Thank You!
Thank you ! I have been trying to see this film for years ! I LOVE Ginger Rogers !
one of Stanley Kubricks favorite films.
