The Alamo: Thirteen Days to Glory [LionHeart Full movie] (1987)

“The Alamo: Thirteen Days to Glory”.
LionHeart Full Movie.
1987.

“The Alamo: 13 Days to Glory” is a 1987 television miniseries later edited into a feature film about the 1836 Battle of the Alamo written and directed by Burt Kennedy, starring James Arness as James Bowie, Brian Keith as Davy Crockett, Alec Baldwin as William Barrett Travis, Raul Julia as Antonio López de Santa Anna, and featuring a single scene cameo by Lorne Greene as Sam Houston. Unlike most other films about the Alamo — the most prominent other exception being the 1955 film The Last Command (which was released during the cultural frenzy created by Walt Disney’s Davy Crockett television miniseries) — it focuses on Bowie as the main character rather than Crockett.

“The production was shot at Alamo Village, the Alamo replica built by John Wayne for his lavish 1960 film The Alamo.

“Much of the footage of the final battle scene was recycled from earlier films.”

  1. The Texans were invaders and the Mexican were defending their homeland. Mexico had already abolished slavery but the Texan wanted to reinstate it. The Texans were given the opportunity to surrender, and the Mexicans allowed the Texans to evacuate non-combatants first. In simplistic terms – the Texans were the bad guys who got what they deserved and the Mexican are good guys and heroes!

  2. The final battle in the movie lasted longer than the actual battle.
Many in this country who would cheer those final narrated words about freedom are also the people taking freedom away from people because they don't like their lifestyle. Think on that.

  3. The truth is that Sam Houston and the government of texas were a bunch of pussies. After they got lucky defeating Santa Ana’s army, Mexico was raising an even bigger army one that would not only avenge the battle of San Jacinto but would have ravaged Texas and taken Houston to his knees and beg for mercy. Of course they chose to join the US quickly since they knew their independence would have been short lived. They made the right choice but cost their short lived freedom in the end. BTW that black guy in the end was freed by the Mexican army he would have been happy not sad that his master was killed.

  4. This movie is far from accurate. It was dark. Travis was killed at beginning. Bowie was most likely unconscious from sickness. Crockett was captured, then executed later. It does show their true courage and character, against an uneven losing battle. REMEMBER THE ALAMO !

  5. The bullshit in this movie are the innuendos made by Santa Anna that the British were flogged by the Americans in the war of independence! which is utter bullshit, America has never won a war on its own!! The war of 'independence' was helped by Spain, Netherlands and the French. The British held Canada because it intended to, even tho' the yanks made a second go but got chased out.
