Public domain classic which is based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. Jo March and her husband Professor Bhaer operate the Plumfield School for poor boys. When Dan, a tough street kid, comes to the school, he wins Jo’s heart despite his hard edge, and she defends him when he is falsely accused. Dan’s foster father, Major Burdle, is a swindler in cahoots with another crook called Willie the Fox. When the Plumfield School becomes in danger of foreclosure, the two con men cook up a scheme to save the home.

Switzerland bhaer???? He is German…
Loved it
This is nothing like the story of Little Men by Louisa May Alcott. Plumfield belonged to Jo's wealthy aunt who left if to Jo when she died. They were never in danger of losing Plumfield and that ridiculous plot with the shady characters trying to rip them off is a pure fabrication by the script writers. The story of Little Men is an excellent story and did not need to be messed about with and totally spoiled.
The premise of this movie makes no sense. Professor Bhaer says unless they can pay the balance of "the lease" they'll have to leave. Anyone that's read Little Women, knows that when her elderly Aunt died, she left Plumfield to Jo. It is her property.
love you too
This movie is truly a typical masterpiece! I just can't believe they could make movie this good in the 40's.
The actor of Dan is handsome 😃
