Great British Crime Drama 1950… another rare find.

Stars Trevor Howard and Jean Simmons. Clearly influenced by early Hitchcock (YOUNG & INNOCENT and 39 STEPS … though no one ever approaches Hitch’s genius, of course). THIS VIDEO IS NOT BEING MONETIZED IN ANY WAY.

  1. I'm surprised we are given a glimpse into the police state we are fast approaching where innocent people are hunted tirelessly by a mob of buffoons whose only superiority is having what weaponry is left and total ignorance of a morality now but already lost to time.

  2. What a cracking film, great actors great script .I was born and bred in Liverpool in the forties ,fifties and sixties .Brought memories of a great city .Those old movies are so good because they rely on great actors and film makers and not special effects like modern movies. Thank you so much for the chance to see this cracking British film.

  3. Thank you for uploading this. It was excellent: The Third Man meets Rebecca. And that great beginning. I can't help wondering if John Le Carre watched this when he was 19.

  4. Wonderful! Thank you. And the girl is very active too, not like those passive females we had to endure for decades afterwards.

  5. "The Clouded Yellow", 1950. METROpolitan MAFIA Pain/PineWood dashed good yawn, er, YARN. Insult to a street-smart tot's intelligence, half filmed UP t' North but NO Northern accents – DOH! Bring bak WalthamStowAway HollyWeird Hitch, kwote, "That brunette Simmons lil gal shoulda bin a HOT Blonde babe the way to go – I like 'em!" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Clouded_Yellow

  6. Thanks for uploading this little-known gem, full of British stars. In 1950, Trevor Howard was 37, Jean Simmons 21, a 16-year romantic age gap that would've raised eyebrows in those far-from-permissive days (I can recall!) but Jean was pretty irresistible. The plot is full of massive logic holes, de rigueur in such pursuit thrillers, but those pesky authorities must be given a fighting chance, eh? And it was great fun.

  7. Thank you, I spent my New YearΒ΄s 2020 eve watching this excellent movie. The beauty of the young Jean Simmons (1929-2010) is breathtaking. Trevor Howard is gorgeous.

  8. TY for the upload, an excellent thriller, well acted & directed. Great to see a variety of locations including Newcastle, where I lived & worked for many years & also mention of Jesmond, one of the suburbs where I grew up. πŸ™‚
