This is a fantastic film!
Ken Richmond WOW 😍♥️
Love Widmark's clothes IN THIS FILM. Straight down my street. This is th way to dress in 2020. Double breasted suits and blazers. Love them. Two tone shoes. My style todat.
This movie can teach the losers of today a thing or two 💁
Robert Siodmak was possibly the greatest noir director. Had not seen this work of his though. Could be his best…..so involving and intense! Nothing made today could compare to this film.
Widmark again as a slimy weasel and coward ! You can feel the desperation in his voice to finally do SOMETHING ANYTHING GOOD at the end when he exclaims to Mary that he will make her the beneficiary of the Reward !!! RIP Richard Widmark
Why always all of Genes movies give me ache in heart. Oh!
Not only the great cast, but also the fantastic director Jules Dassin, who always directed excellent movies.
An amazing movie. Modern movies do not even come close. Richard Widmark was the greatest. Thank you for an incredible movie. Excellent quality download of a priceless gem!
"A Harry in the Sun"
Waste of time movie.
Richard Widmark had such a wonderful career-after his Tommy Udo role and some of these early films he could have easily been a bad or questionable character actor–but he had a long and distinguished acting career playing many roles including hero–I for one really enjoy him in every role
Wow….what a brilliant film!
Different times different acting styles. Unfortunately the acting at the time was over the top and well bad. Still enjoy the old movies especially the beautiful Gene Tierney.
Fantastic Movie!!!! Widmark is so good! Thank you!
Widmark’s laugh is undeniable! No matter what film he’s in, you can always hear the craziness in his laugh during his acting career (don’t know if he laughed like this in real life?) He’s a Great Actor & I appreciate watching him in this unseen drama! THX!
"I wanna be somebody"..
Wonder if this is where
"I coulda been somebody" came from (Marlon Brando)
One of the great American films by a director who was hounded out of the US.
Brilliant film and great art noir classic. God Bless and Rest in Peace all of these great actors and actresses when the silver screen made people happy, great and sorely missed entertainment, cheers.
Great film based on a must-read novel. Fabian was irredeemable in that book.
I think anyone that offers a bit of a bio on any actor, does him/her a disservice in not doing a fair search…
Richard Widmark may have started as so many do in type-cast roles but he play more cops/detective roles than crazies….
His career span the same length as Henry Fonda …
in fact they were best of friends (Widmark married Henry's widow after his own wife of plus 60 years died…) Turns out both women were great friends and caregivers.
Another sensible woman with a worthless pos man. Women are just stupid and so are a lot of men
jiminy…good one! best i've seen in a while. great cast all – tierney, withers, widmark. short haircut didn't do tierney any favors, imho, LOL. the trials and tribulations of romancing OPM…so many folks never learn the lesson.
At 41:43 the young actor on the right is Ken Richmond who was the most famous of the J Arthur Rank "Gong" ringers at the beginning of those movies.
wow….. what an amazing film and cast. excellent exterior scenes of London Widmark was brilliant.
Tierney is not too bad a looker even with her big over bite. Widmark is very good no matter what film he is in. Noir is my favorite genre which suits Widmark to a tee. Thanks for supplying this film – it is greatly appreciated.
This is one of best film noirs. Widmark is in top form, Gene Tierney, who's not really my version of a film noir moll or doll (primarily due to her general on-screen presence of primness and honesty) , is excellent here. The supporting cast – all of them – are quirky and slimy in a creative way. The whole world is dark, sleazy and sweaty. The lighting and cinematic art is probably one the best in noir history- hail hail director and camera teams!! Bravo !!!
Thanks , this is a great example of British film noir with great performances and direction.
favorite line: "hes an artist without an art"
Harry could have had a good job, went home to a beautiful and loving woman but he wanted things, things that in the end or certain amount of time would have shown its coldness and its inability to satisfy. A dark sort of Camus type story but it was realistic and did not show this man with a bent mind that gets away at the end after all the pain and death he caused because he came first…and he could not love. I think the story may have been with greater impact if Harry had got killed earlier, but the film used extra time to show the man's inability to grab the beautiful life he could have, so in the end most viewers did not mourn for him, maybe wanted him stopped.I desired the ending as it was done. An interesting and thought provoking film…the best performance of Widmark I ever saw and not a favorite actor of mine. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for sharing!
THANK YOU..WONDERFUL LITTLE MOVIE
Giving this movie a whirl. I got into classics a year ago or so. Easier to watch and enjoy, I feel.
Widmark should have gotten an Oscar for his performance.. The NYT critic at the time (the very over-rated Bosley Crowther), wrote a negative review. Today it's considered a great noir.
Excellent film on so many levels.
wonderful noir thanks! I can't believe so few likes or views!
Richard Widmark was great. He always played these type of roles. I did not see this one before today. It seemed like he was type-cast in much of his movies as a con artist or a rat. The one I liked was "Kiss of Death", another old one which was his film debut I believe. You have to see it. Road House (1948) was another great film with Cornell Wild and Ida Lupino.
Does anyone have 'The Black Whip?' It"s 1956 or '57. The movie sucks, but I love the music 4 the intro & opening credits. are
