Storyline:
Huckleberry Finn, a rambunctious boy adventurer chafing under the bonds of civilization, escapes his humdrum world and his selfish, plotting father by sailing a raft down the Mississippi River. Accompanying him is Jim, a slave running away from being sold. Together the two strike a bond of friendship that takes them through harrowing events and thrilling adventures.

Review:
All the acting was superb. The sets were…well, it was 1960. But the script! To hear Mark Twain so joyfully transposed, and so artfully accurate for the film characters and actors! What a straight, simple joy to see this film, made to entertain and doing it proudly, with all concerned — actors and director mainly — working on the same premise. And tell me Tony Randall didn’t go home whistling after every day on the set! But this was Mark Twain done proud. How many other great writers so easily lend themselves to film scripts? What a writer! What fun he had with phrases, sayings and words. And how well all that was put to use in this movie. And PS Archie Moore was a great heavyweight. Written by: greenfrog

  8. The lady who played the maid is Josephine Hutchinson she also played in Little house on the prairie. Episode called if I should die before I wake!!

  11. At first I thought it was racist and dated and stupid.
    By the end, the lead actors made me really care about the characters.
    The movie also has Tony Randall, Buster Keaton, Andy Devine, Royal Dano and John Carradine.

  12. Archie Moore, the actor who played Jim, was also a great boxer. He was the longest reigning World Light Heavyweight Champion of all time. Having held the Title from December, 1952 until May, 1962. So he was still the Champ when they filmed this movie. He was also a trainer for a short time after he retired. He trained the boxers Muhammad Ali, George Forman and James Tillis.

  15. This movie was made in 1960. It's not a bad movie, in fact it's pretty good. But it is only vaguely related to the original book by Twain.

  30. Those creaking shoes! I feel such a pity for poor Huck! This is amazing finding of scenarists! Huck is my favorite, the kindest soul! Both books were my favorite when I was a kid, and I always thought of Huck how he can be so wise as a grown up.
