Awwww, Man! SmH! Good Movie!
Smh!
Charles Laughton is very good…love his hair….LOL..saw him in an Abbott and Costello skit one time and he recited the Gettysburg Address completely from memory……… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CKLVXNbtTk&t=4s
Ella Raines!!! One of my faves…she co-starred with John Wayne in "Tall in the Saddle"! How they got a title like that past the censors, I'll never know.
The strict censors in 1940s forced the film crew to make compromises and drove Laughton's character to surrender to the police. Aside from that, the film is great.
WEIRD Henry Daniell 1944 aka the 2nd murder victim looks just like Robert Travis 1975 iMDB
I wonder if not some of these actor's are clones ( Good Movies -group) fb
Such a blessed, unique, grandious caracter and actor, love him
Ella Raines ..
The marvelous talent, Henry Daniel.
Good movie ….. Had its twists and turns more than once but did not give away anything …..
I think so good products came because, everybody was extremely motivated, knowing,
doing yr job, it could as well be on the beaches of normandy, iwo jima, or cozy H`woooood,
hey lord, doing my job – i am going to live, I`ll give it the best.
Lots of german nazii survival movies – for example, the eternal jew, die feuerzangenbowle…
were helpful in helping to survive people by procrastination of the director.
Awesome movie .. highly recommended!! Thanks for the upload ππ»β£οΈ

Of course you know this young woman was also a chubby chaser
This is one of the best pictures ever.
Thank you.
The law doesn't take into account whether a murder victim was a nasty piece of work.
It's unfortunate that being a psychopath isn't a capital offense.
Excellent!!!!!
So, did he kill her?
You have some nice films on here x this is a favourite as you can see by last comment left some time back haha a good film deserves to be watched more than once!twice haha x
Thank you for posting this film, on the whole best films are still British, Charfles Laughton in a class of his own
Wow
Anyone else reminded of Anthony Hopkins when watching Laughton's performance in this? Thank you Chris T . A great film , there wasn't a bad bone in his body yet he killed 2 people, very clever film.Never did Laughton ham it up or suddenly go evil eyed it was almost a tired resignation. Good supporting cast too , thought the young lad was very good for a child actor from that era.Only slight minus was when the detective too enthusiastically acted out his version of the murder.
What a disgusting thing to go to the man's home on the very eve of his wife's fumeral and without any evidence accuse him of murdering his wife!!! What gall….

It would be staggering if in real life someone like Laughton's character would sacrifice his well-being to spare his female neighbor the gallows. Fictitious as the story is, it makes for compelling viewing highlighted superbly by the realistic acting of the rotund Laughton.
Excellent – thank you for posting.
Greetings From Florida π΄ Thank You Chris 4/ sharing this Gem π Happy Healthy 2021 π Everyone!
Wouldn't it have been awful loss if Laughton had been restricted to playing homosexual characters as the nutters now insist upon.
The wife omigod, she's horrible.
My mom thought the world of Lauton she thought he was the best! Also a very good catholic in real life!
There's more than one oddity in this otherwise excellent film: an American son to a distinctly English
couple; a beautiful but American woman looking for an office job in the late 18th century London; the
far too lavish clothes she wore when she did finally have a job; and the far from official visit of the Scotland
Yard officer after the murder….. However, all this is "forgiven" when we become mesmerized by
Charles Laughton's impeccable performance.
I love this film. Philip was the kind of person that everybody that knew him loved & respected except for the two that tried to make his life impossible. He had the decency to return to prevent his neighbour from the possibility of being hanged.
Such a great one π π₯ π. ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ πππ
A woman's tongue , the only blade that grows sharper with use.
Henry Daniell would have made a great Holmes … better still, an evil Moriarty!

" Oh come on, just one little kiss … you won't miss it .." – how sweet!
