  1. West London Western. The location shooting really enhanced the drama and the score set the atmosphere perfectly. Richard Todd, famous for his role as WW2 flying hero Guy Gibson, poignant here, trying to get by as an unsuccessful salesman, yet confronting his own demons at considerable physical risk.

  2. Excellent. When there could still be good guys and bad guys. The transformation of each man, Sellars from strong and commanding to defeated, and Todd from namby pamby to a strong male figure. Fascinating. Great acting.

  3. Wow…. Well done B & W British crime drama done outside the studio formula… with a nice role for Peter Sellers as a "heavy" before his many satiric and comic roles that defined him.

  4. Nice switch around of roles with Sellers and Todd. Reminds me of Mad Dog and Glory where DeNiro plays the simple guy and Bill Murray is the hard but gangster. Just replace the car with a love interest (Uma Thurman).

  5. This movie works on every level, from John Barry's music score to Richard Todd as the downtrodden salesman who finally snaps when his car is stolen……. Peter Sellers is outstanding as the Psychopathic villain…… Real shame he could not have done more straight roles……

  6. A very good movie. A period piece for sure, but it's an honest and realistic portrayal of the times. The pace is fast and well directed and edited, the acting is solid, ironically the weakest link is Peter Sellers, tries really hard but can't quite convince. But hey, it's still gritty and well worth a watch 🙂

  7. Ripoff of Vittorio de Sica's immortal BICYCLE THIEF, with a Ford Anglia instead of a bike. Superbly creepy performance from Sellers, not so good from Todd. Worth watching "kitchen sink" period flick.

  8. It is more than simply a British "Bruce Willis" Movie. I give IT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It followed the KISS Principle ….For once the "Classic Movie" moniker actully more than lived-up to the meaning of IT's name: "Classic Movie"…..

  9. Such an excellent film. The acting, the dialogue, the camera angles. It's a pity Peter Sellers's performance was panned by the critics. He is a revelation the sadistic villain. Should have played more of them. He might have been happier.

  10. i realize i'm an emotional basket case and other things as well, but i had to stop this movie and call a friend cause peter sellers is knocking me out with his two punch. you better look out for his left, your right. ok, think i'm ready to watch again, almost done. still kickin, all good. bye now.

  11. i'm rip torn. all this over a car. not even a guitar. a simple stupid combustion engine. my motto is, have guitar will travel. don't need no car, though the real money is in piano.
