A real true Superstar Betty Hutton
Pity that in 1952 they were still doing black face. Really ruined an otherwise great movie!I hope we have learned to eliminate garbage like that from our lives.
What a great feel good movie thank you Chris Johnson for that musical jewel !
Just by the opening credits and music…I know this is going to be a good movie better than most of THE GARBAGE OF HOLLYWOOD TODAY !
Doris Day + June Allison = Betty Hutton
It's so strange to see her being supported by an all black chorus. She was so lovely and talented. Such a tragic life.
Excellent movie worth 20 Stars thank you and I appreciate you have a bless day you and your families
My favorite of all of Hutton's films. Why isn't it out on Blu-ray or at the very least, DVD?
"why don't you get down on your knees and beg him" The way she throw herself to him is shameful. We can all smell the desperation
Good movie but he black face just kills it
Was enjoying the movie up until the black face performance. Yeah, this film is a hard NO for me.
Marvellous films makes life in old age fabulous ๐คชmissed so many in life as working so hard for my family ๐๐๐cheers
Amazing Betty Hutton that played Annie in Annie Getts Her Gun, on the loan to MGM, treated her terribly by cast, because she replaced Judy Garland, and because she couldnโt cut it her role, which was very demanding in every way. When the movie was premiered, MGM put her in a hotel closed by, Betty crying and heartbroken, which resulted in destruction of her career and Betty walking away from show business and working in church as a cook for the rest of her life. Very sad story and destruction of a great talent and beauty.
Check out the movie Annie Gets Her Gun, when you have a chance. DVD has actual comparisons of some parts that were already filmed by Judy Garland. Betty was so much better!!!
What the best ending! Thank you. I enjoyed this very much.
around 1:19:00 very nice couple rehearsal! Heart-warming.
Things woman have to do for a man who never stop
Later a Ginger Rogers? already a bit a Gene Kelly stylish happiness of dancing singing ..
Governor's provide "Tent City" – thousands return to the city Sisco.
First there was Ginger Rogers then Betty Hutton. These two women had more talent than most anyone else in Hollywood
Her voice really was better after the operation.
All those 21st century hypocrites stay away from this !
After watching several videos here about Betty Hutton's life after she had a nervous breakdown and was put in an assylum by the people who got rich because of her, I wonder why the Screen Actors Guild didn't help her. A nervous breakdown wasn't the same as being insane so she just needed a vacation from work and from the people who depended on her too much. I wish I lived back then so that I could help her. She, Doris Day and Sandra Dee are the actresses I admire so much.
So glad I watched this classic with Betty Hutton, Ralph Meeker and Billie Bird. Gorgeous sets and beautiful gowns…there goes my heart ..! I recognized Billie Bird from Sixteen Candles and several other John Hughes movies. She's pretty sassy … Fun to see her in this Betty Hutton film.
life seemed so simple and safe and loving. Now our world is sad! We need to keep praying!
Oh the wardrobe…
Betty Hutton, Marion huttons little sister. At a young age their father left them for another girl and thier mom was an alcoholic. Marion and Betty heard that thier father had committed suicide From a telegram in 1934. When Marion Hutton joined the Glenn Miller Orchestra Marion was only 17. Glenn wanted her to perform with them at all gigs, and most of the gigs were in nightclubs. With her being underage Glenn and Helen became her legal guardians. Marion said since she never really had a father, Glenn was the closest thing to a father for her and she loved it.
Who's the dude singing and dancing in women's clothing? That's not a woman…
Mediocre movie, representative of the conventional 50's style in Hollywood. Save an hour and a half, don't watch it!
I really enjoyed this movie, men were men and ladies were ladies. I was born in the wrong era
….what a classic & elegant movie…..just my kind…..thank you Chris……the movies that you give us ….are even better than main stream TCM….for sure…..

Blackface warning! Can't stomach it. My beautiful wife was black, Cherokee and Irish. She was a wonderful jazz singer and musical theatre actress. She abhorred blackface make up on whites. I agree.
