Dan Ward has the reputation of an outlaw but Pender trusts him with the payroll that must get through to his miners. Swain learns Ward is carrying the money and traps him along the way but Ward tricks him with a fake wad of bills. But Swain learns Pember’s niece is making the return trip and now both her and Ward are in trouble.
