The Rifleman – Season 4, Episode 29 – The Day the Town Slept – Full Episode

The town of North Fork becomes a haven for outlaws when suave Ben Judson smooth-talks his way into the marshal’s job.

The action-packed series about a dedicated rancher trying to raise his son in a turbulent, untamed West. Their adventures are filled with rousing, two-fisted action set against sweeping beautiful and authentic locations. A classic hit-series, “The Rifleman” is rich with high production standards, moral values and a superb list of guest stars.

  1. I've only seen this episode a half million times and never noticed @ 22:4722:52 one of the stage crew's silhouette over by the door and light. He apparently either had a cigarette or toothpick possibly which he brought up to his mouth, then dropped his hand down, or maybe he just yawned and brought his hand up to his mouth and back down…LOL I love the entire "The Rifleman" series especially in finding little bloopers as such. Wonderful cast and supporting actors.

  2. I love this episode, because literally nobody believes in Micah's shooting ability, even though it's stated that he used to be pretty fast, and we regularly see him hitting shots with a pistol.

    Don't underestimate a dedicated Marshall.

  3. Mark becomes the marshal but is fired after he gets caught growing loco weed. he argues that it is for medicinal purposes but is sent to the woodshed anyway ????

  4. Ben Judson, aka Lawrence Dobkin, wrote the scripts for 2 episodes of the Rifleman, The Executioner & The Actress.
I got to meet James Best in Sperryville, VA a long time ago, he said he enjoyed Westerns like this episode, and the KIller Shrews film he was in. But loved the comedy side acting more. ???????? & 5⭐

  5. Bob's daughter later married Dennis Coltrane. They moved to Hazard County GA where they had a son named Oscar. One of his sons was named Rosco.

  6. Wow, what a great episode! Lucas is completely badass to just walk by Judson and get his rifle. You just know that neither of the bad guys has the guts to stop him. And the ending was a really good message for today too!
