  3. I remember watching this when the B.B.C showed horror films double bill on Friday nights, it was when they were doing all the Karloff's and Lugosi films. Cheers for this!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  4. It took an artist n talent to make black n white pics successful. Goofy sometimes but that was the times. Today all high tech n the acting was lost β€œ in my opinion β€œ. Love that phrase πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  5. That big mouth butler , still works there after getting her fiance killed because of his big mouth. He should have been fired on the spot. An innocent man is dead because of your big mouth.

  6. I grow weary of African-Americans portrayed as servants, but to my delight, Evans was an integral part of the plot, and his character was multi-layered and multi-dimensional. The actor, Clarence Muse, presented the character with dignity, restraint, and in a non-stereotype fashion. Not bad for 1941. Kudos to the studio and producers. Oh, and incidentally, Bela Lugosi creeped the hell outta me, while making me feel empathy for him as well. The other characters were likable…good acting all around. Thanks for posting.

  7. That was so good. I can't remember the last time, I felt such heartache for a character, as I did Bela's. And what a great character in Evans, the Butler. Thank you for this.
