"… you trusted me, I trusted you, THEN; Now we know a lot more about each other."
Wow. I should have seen this flick back in '47 … but I was born in 1948.
Hey, Sebnup—What you're describing is a problem provided by the lab that made the reduction print form 35 to 16mm. The sound track reader was mis adjusted and picked up some of the picture frame lines which results in the "drubbing" heard underneath the soundtrack. Because it comes and goes at various levels of loudness, the misadjustment was very slight and likely couldn't be heard with a small high freq range speaker,,,, the printer should have used headphones or at least been much more careful….just cheap lab work….
I WAS BORN IN 49
Really liked this film, quite intriguing. The static was extremely loud , however.
just saw this movie, very good,〽️📽
Spooky. I liked it.
boring
This is quite a little gem of film noir – even the touch of Gaslight doesn't detract. Thanks for presenting it.
The composer here says that he knows his composition won't make any money, but it's worth doing. I myself do work that won't make me any money either, and people expect it to be automated any day now, and so not worth doing at all: translating.
A very good movie with a good cast and a top-notch performance by Paul Lukas.
Thanks for that movie. Nice to see Dantine in another movie than Casablanca. The young gambler, remember ? Really interesting life too. Just check: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmut_Dantine

I was hooked after maybe 10 minutes. A little predictable but wonderful performances and beautiful music. Thanks for providing this.
Excellent film. It takes a while to get going, but if you go along for the ride, so to speak (pun intended), you will have spent a profitable 91 minutes watching this. Wonderful performances by the principals (including Helmut Dantine, Paul Lukas, Mary Anderson, John Pratt, and Joy Lafleur) and by all of the character actors and actresses (particularly Mimi D'Estee, George Alexander, and Louis-Philippe Hebert). Well-written and well-directed, too – and the movie shows off Quebec City and its surrounding area to great effect. Thank you very much for sharing this with us!
good movie, well enjoyed, certainly knew how to make a movie
"Crazy," is a weapon of deceit the Masters of humanity use again and again, while never blunting the edge: "Conspiracy theorist!" Etc.
Loved it. Mary Anderson really impressed me Paul Lukas is the evil rock of Gibralter in this kind of picture. Thanks for posting!
Just discovered this channel. I enjoy old movies of adventure, film noir crime, etc. Thank You.
Good story Everything works well here Thanks Matt NY
Great story line, totally enjoyed this, thank you!!………….
Eagle-Lyon Films! But what a great film, the best! The question is, just how many of these great films are out there that we haven't seen. I, for one, am extremely grateful to you, AND, for the captioning to get the facts straight. Forget any flaws, just gratitude 4 U.
A bit contrived, but entertaining.
Thank you for a most enjoyable movie.
There seems to be a few minutes missing toward the ending.

Didn't see the twist coming.
It's good to see Paul Lukas in a another fine performance ably suported by Mary Anderson
Thanks for posting this little forgotten gem. Enjoyed it very much. Mary Anderson was really gorgeous.
Very good entertainment, good story, well playing actors, very nice piano music. I enjoyed it a lot.
By the way, the piano concert which Michel Lacoste is "composing" in this film is the "Concerto Romantique" or "Concerto de Quebec" (1943-47) by André Mathieu. You can listen to the original from 8:00 min upward under this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AfbEEUX5B8
