A very early screen appearance by comedian Jack Benny sees him as a doctor who runs a travelling medicine show. He stop in a small town where he meets the children of an abusive shop owner.

Tiffany was one of the pioneer "Poverty Row" studios in Hollywood at the time this was produced- and Jack Benny was "between studios" (after his role in MGM's "Hollywood Revue of 1929", he struggled to find other movie parts, finally headlining several comedy shorts for Paramount, before his next appearance in a feature film). He later said he barely remembered making this one- probably because his screen character was unlike his later roles, often as a variation of "himself".
a fun film. Thank you for a nice time.
Good movie.Wish they could clean up the sound. Jack Benny was always great!
interesting old movie, love Mr Benny!!
Was he young in this movie or what?
Didn't know Jack Benny was in so many old movies. I love the Jack Benny Program. Still make me laugh. 🙂
A abusive dad: a lecherous store owner who likes that YOUNG lady (old enough to be her grandfather) who likes Benny…interesting film cheaply made….but Benny was destined for bigger things…3 stars…..
Jack was 36 in this film
"Jack Benny" giving away money??? The later version would still be holding onto it as he tried to throw it away!!
Eve Unsell was one of the pioneer screenwriters. She was an early feminist who wrote her female characters to be just as important to the story as the male characters were. She is mentioned as one of 202 women featured in the "Women Film Pioneers Project".
Betty Bronson played Peter Pan in the silent version (1924?) and Jesus mother Mary in technicolor (2s) in Ben But (1925). Ain't I smart?
